Stud Services - Silverstream Eduardo

We feel that Eduardo's genetics set him apart from many of the working males in New Zealand. But, if we've learned anything along the way, we know that genetics alone doesn't make a good stud male. One look at his fleece (on his back or in the bag) and you can see why we made the substantial investment in this boy. His fleece has all of the characteristics we are trying to stamp on our herd (lustre, handle, staple length, bundling, and crimp). We washed a small sample of his fleece and it lost nothing in the process (other than dirt). It was still just as crimpy and even more lustrous. Stud Fees: Deciding on an appropriate fee to charge for matings to Eduardo presented us with a real challenge. We believe that there are three primary attributes that determine the fair price for stud fees: 1. The quality of the male's progeny on the ground (fleece characteristics and conformation). 2. The fleece characteristics and conformation of the stud male. 3. The quality of the genetics behind the male concerned. Eduardo, like many young males, simply doesn't have progeny on the ground. On the other hand, his fleece is extraordinary and his genetics are as good as they get. With all of this in mind, and the desire to get some progeny on the ground, we have set his stud fees as follows:    Drive-by $800 + GST (bring female to our farm for mating and take her away)    On-farm  $900 + GST (includes 60 days agistment and scanning)    Mobile  $1,000 + GST (within 200km of Auckland/Helensville) These fees will be evaluated in 2008, after Eduardo has some cria on the ground.
