The venue was perfect, with plenty of shade from three huge trees, and the weather was as good as it gets, with just a light breeze to take some of the sting out of the sunshine.
Our objective was to come home with the Sire's Progeny red ribbon and we are delighted to have achieved our goal. Silverstream Ledgers Legacy, arguably our best white male, is strutting his stuff after the judge (Kate Mander) awarded the red ribbon for Sire's Progeny to two of his progeny.
All of our alpacas only had two or three months fleece, so it was a big gamble to even take them to the show. Although we didn't come home with any broad ribbons, we feel the gamble paid off.
Here's how our pacas did at the Franklin Show:
1st, Sire's Progeny, for Legacy with Lallybroch Duncan and Kaipara Pines Vixen.
1st, Intermediate, Medium-Dark Fawn, Male with Kaipara Pines Comanche
1st, Senior, Black, Male with Sterling Rose Ferrari
2nd, Junior, White/Light Fawn, Male with Kaipara Pines Morgan
2nd, Intermediate, White/Light Fawn, Female with Kaipara Pines Vixen
4th, Junior, White/Light Fawn, Female with Kaipara Pines Honey
1st, Performance Class, Kathy with Ferrari
We were particularly pleased with the red ribbon for Comanche, as we recently sold a half interest in this lovely, medium-fawn male to Don and Jude Carter.
Since Kathy does all of the halter training of our pacas, it was nice to see her and Ferrari win the performance class.
