Herd Genetics
|
| Peruvian Hemingway |
Bred by the Rural Allianza co-op and originating from their plantel herd located at Macusani, Hemingway was imported to the USA in the first Peruvian import by Roger Haldane.
Hemingway’s overall coverage is considered stellar. He has been confirmed to be the number one award winning fleece/male in alpaca history.
His fleece tested at 18.3 microns at age three, and his fleece still retains incredible softness, lustre and fine crimp.
Proven to be highly prepotent in his ability to pass his fleece qualities on to his offspring, Mike Safley (his owner) has reported that Hemingway has proven to reduce micron and improve uniformity in fleece by approximately 25%.
Hemingway’s progeny include ILR Alpine Fibre’s Brutus (17.3 micron – first sheer, 21.8 micron – third sheer), Hemingway’s Tennessee (21.0 micron – sixth sheer), Snowmass Cchatanca (17.9 micron – fourth sheer) and Eternally Optimistic (18.1 micron – third sheer).
