Brutus came to New Zealand from Mike Safley's Northwest Alpacas and was sired by the famous Peruvian Hemingway. Since arriving in 2002, Brutus already has over 315 progeny on the ground, and those progeny have accumulated numerous ribbons at most New Zealand shows.
At the Columbia Alpaca Breeders Association annual show in May, 2002 (one of the largest shows in the US),
Brutus’ second fleece excelled by taking second place in a very large class. The white classes are always tough, so his breeders were very pleased with the result. Brutus' third fleece won his class in the Malvern Show in 2002 and measured 21.8 microns with a CV of 21.2%.
Brutus is available for stud duties through New Zealand. Contact Nic Cooper or Linda Blake at Southern Alpaca Stud for more information.
